Pet Quality & Fiber Sheep for Sale
What is a Pet or Fiber Sheep, You Ask? These are unregistered ewes and wethers (neutered males) who come complete with abundant, beautiful fleeces. They make colorful additions to spinning flocks, are excellent brush control squads and lawn mowers that can also can end up being a really fun, low key project that kids and families will enjoy together. Although they are not quite what we call breeding quality, they are guaranteed to steal your heart and provide you with soft and colorful fleeces, suitable for countless fiber projects for many years to come. |

Why Keep a Wether? As a pet, a wether is a good choice because he can be acquired for far less than registered breeding stock. He will not go into rut or contaminate his wool with a “rammy” odor in the fall, nor will he become seasonally aggressive like intact rams do. A wether, unlike an intact ewe or ram, is also able to focus solely on growing his fleece, completely uninterrupted by the breeding and natural hormone cycles that other sheep experience. Even in registered breeding flocks a wether has a very valuable role. Although he cannot produce offspring, he will provide you with an extra fleece, and your ram will be guaranteed companionship when he needs to be separated from your ewes. A wether also comes in handy for keeping a new or sick sheep company during a quarantine period, so that you can avoid jeopardizing the health of your breeding flock. |

Non Breeding Ewes If you choose to select an available female from this page, you must sign a contract agreeing not to breed her. These ewes are intended to be kept as companion and fiber animals only. If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive, unregistered ewe for farmstead milk or lamb production, we sometimes agree to part with registered sale ewes for $200 each.
Sheep are Herd Animals… And there’s no “I” in herd (or flock). A single sheep is not a happy sheep– when they are apart from members of their own kind, sheep become inclined to high stress and anxiety levels. So, if you don’t already have a flock, please plan on purchasing at least 2 sheep so that they can keep each other company.
